What Coolant Should I Use for My Yamaha ATV?
When it comes to which coolant you should use for a particular make and model of a powersports vehicle, you really can’t go wrong with the original engine manufacturer's brand.
With that said, what type of coolant should be used for a Yamaha ATV is a common question that comes up a lot during our powersports expert John Talley’s live Q&A sessions. John goes live every Friday at 3pm on our YouTube channel, and in this edition, he answers the question of which coolant is best for a Yamaha Grizzly 700.
Yamaha ATV Coolant
I have a YFM 700 Grizzly and I watched your video of how to replace the stator as I am doing right now myself. Is there a specific type of coolant I need to put in it?
John Talley: I’m a big believer in the OEM coolant. Yamalube makes the already pre-diluted coolant for all the different Yamaha machines. It doesn’t matter if it’s the Grizzly or the YXZ or an R1. It’s designed to work very well with the all-aluminum engines and the radiators themselves, and it’s the one to go with. That’s what I usually always run in my machines. I would stay away from anything that’s intended for automotive use because hey, this is not a car that we’re dealing with. So I would say go with the Yamalube brand. It’s good stuff.
As John mentioned, the best coolant to go with on a Yamaha ATV or any other Yamaha powersports vehicle is the Yamalube OEM pre-diluted anti-freeze. We did a coolant change on a YFM700 some time ago, in which the steps are covered for not only changing the coolant, but flushing out the cooling system as well.
