High Oil Pressure Problem with Polaris ATV

A high oil pressure problem with a Polaris ATV may not be an oil pressure problem at all, but possibly a crankcase pressure problem caused by engine blow-by.

I have a 2021 Polaris High Lifter with high oil pressure causing the rear oil to be pushed against the flywheel, causing damage to the seal. Any thoughts?

John Talley: Hmm. High oil pressure or do you think it’s crankcase pressure from maybe blow-by. Flywheel causing damage to the seal? If you’re talking about the flywheel seal, that’s not part of the pressurized oil circulation system. That’s just down at the crankcase. So that makes me wonder if you’ve got a little too much blow-by happening on the rings. Any chance it went swimming, maybe partially damaged the rings? Just a thought. I’d say do a compression test and see where you are, and make sure the cylinders are in good working order. … I’m surprised that it hasn’t pushed out oil into your airbox. Why don’t you take a look in there and see if you’ve got some pooled at the bottom. Tell me if I’m right or not.
