Tools and Supplies - Polaris RZR Transmission Fluids Change
- 3/8 ratchet and extensions
- 8mm Allen
- Catch pan
- Hose
The RZR 900S uses Demand Drive fluid in the front gearcase and AGL gearcase lubricant in the rear transmission. Make sure you have both types ready before you start working on your Polaris UTV, and be careful not to use the wrong lubricant in the wrong drive unit.
NOTE: When changing the transmission and gearcase fluids on a Polaris RZR 900S, always have your vehicle parked on a level surface. If your RZR isn't level, you won't be able to accurately refill the fluids with the correct amounts.
Polaris RZR 900S Front Gearcase Lubricant Change
Step 1. Remove the front gearcase fill plug, which is located on the right-hand side next to the driveshaft. Removing the fill plug helps the gearcase lube drain out better.
Step 2. Remove the front gearcase drain plug, which is located on the underside of the gearcase. Have a drain pan ready to catch the used oil.
Step 3. Clean off any metal debris from the magnetic drain plug and inspect the O-ring for signs of wear. Replace the O-ring if necessary.
Step 4. Reinstall the gearcase drain plug and torque it to 10 foot-pounds.
Step 5. Fill the gearcase with Polaris Demand Drive fluid until it reaches the level of the fill hole.
PRO TIP: A jug pump and length of hose make refilling the gear case much easier.
Step 6. Reinstall the gearcase fill plug and torque it to 10 foot-pounds.
Polaris RZR 900S Transmission Fluid Change
Step 1. Remove the transmission fill plug, which is located at the rear of the transmission case. Removing the fill plug helps the transmission fluid drain better.
Step 2. Remove the transmission drain plug, which is located on the underside of the transmission case. Have a drain pan ready to catch the old fluid.
Step 3. Clean off any metal debris from the magnetic drain bolt and inspect the O-ring for signs of wear. Replace the O-ring if necessary.
Step 4. Reinstall the transmission drain bolt and torque it to 14 foot-pounds.
Step 5. Fill the transmission case with Polaris AGL gearcase lubricant until it reaches the level of the fill hole.
PRO TIP: Just like the gearcase, a jug pump and length of hose make refilling the transmission with fluid easier.
Step 6. Reinstall the transmission fill plug and torque it to 14 foot-pounds.
