Do You Use Threadlocker on a Heli-coil?

Should you apply Loctite or any other type of threadlocker to a Heli-coil thread repair tool? The answer might just come down to personal preference.

Do you put Loctite or some type of threadlocker on a Heli-coil?

John Talley: It’s not required, and depending on, well I like Time Serts better than Heli-coils, but if I had to use a Heli-coil, yeah I probably would. That’s just a personal preference. You know, some people vote against it but I don’t have a problem with it. In certain cases I don’t. But if it’s inside something that’s going to get really hot, like an exhaust stud or something like that, I usually don’t because it’s just going to flow out, so what’s the point?
