Yamaha Grizzly ATV Wet Clutch Problem

If your Yamaha ATV isn't performing as it should after installing a new clutch, you may have to revisit the job and find out what went wrong. It's also good to know how to inspect a CVT wet clutch system, which is found on the Grizzly model.

Yamaha ATV Clutch Problem

I have an ‘01 Yamaha Grizzly 600 and I just installed a wet clutch, but after installing it, it’s in a low reduction when riding it. Any help would be appreciated.

John Talley: I’m not sure I follow what you’re saying, but we did a wet clutch rebuild on a Grizzly 700 and I would bet it’s a very similar setup, so if you would, go back and reference that video and just follow what I did. That was a few years ago, so I don’t remember each working point to really give you a guess as to why it would be holding back or not fully engaging because that interior clutch is not speed-dependent, it’s either engaged or it’s disengaged. The only thing that’s going to change your gearing for the most part is the belt system, the CVT system, because Yamaha has two clutches. The centrifugal wet clutch that you’re talking about and it also has the CVT system, which pretty much acts as its transmission. So I would bet it probably has nothing to do with the wet clutch. Something’s going wrong with your CVT system, so take a peek at that.
