Partzilla’s motorcycle expert John Talley livestreams Q&A sessions on our YouTube channel every Friday at 3pm Eastern. In this session, John was asked what could be considered high mileage on a sports bike like a 2015 Honda CBR600 RR.

Honda CBR 600 sports bike maintenance

Sport Bike High Mileage Q&A

What's considered high mileage on a sports bike?  I have a 2015 Honda CBR 600RR.

John Talley: I’m of the firm opinion that the mileage doesn’t matter if you really maintain it. I’ve got a car with 234,000 miles on it and we’re just getting started. That has demanded a lot of work. It’s a performance machine, a BMW M5 if you’re curious. But if you maintain them and stay ahead of the maintenance curve, it wouldn’t scare me to pick up a sports bike that’s been maintained properly with over 40 or 50 thousand miles on it. I had a mechanic friend I worked with at a dealership level and he had a Yamaha R1 with over 100 thousand miles on it, and it was his primary ride. He rode it to work every day, whether there was rain, sleet or snow. … But we’d go on trips, 200 or 300 miles away and he would be on his R1. So as long as you maintain them, you’re good to go.
