How to Change Suzuki GSX-R1000 Front Brake Pads

Replacing the front brake pads on a Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle can be done with a few basic tools and a handful of minutes.

There are wear indicators cut into Suzuki GSX-R1000 front brake pads, which will no longer be visible once the pads need replacing. Note that the wear indicators show the absolute maximum wear limit, and GSX-R1000 front brake pads should always be replaced before that wear limit is reached.

PRO TIP: It's much easier breaking the pad pins loose while the caliper is still mounted to the fork.

Step 3. Use a flat blade screwdriver to lever the old brake pads apart and press the pistons back into the brake caliper.

Step 10. Repeat steps 1-9 for the front brake pads on the other side of the wheel.

Make sure you pump the front brake lever a few times to seat the new brake pads on the rotors and build up pressure in the system before riding the bike for the first time after a front pad change.
