How to Change Honda PCX 150 Oil

Regularly changing the oil in a Honda PCX 150 scooter will keep it running smooth, only takes a handful of minutes, and is one of the most important maintenance tasks that should never be overlooked.

Tools and Supplies – Honda PCX 150 Oil Change

• Ratchet
• 17mm socket
• Torque wrench
• Honda GN4 10W-40 oil (1 quart)
• Contact/brake cleaner

Honda PCX 150 Oil Change Steps

Step 1. Run the motor on idle for a minute or two to warm up the oil, which helps it drain. Remove the dipstick to help the engine breathe, which also helps the oil drain faster.

Step 2. Position a drain pan under the motor, and remove the 17mm drain bolt from the bottom right side of the engine.

Step 3. Remove the screen, the spring and the crush washer from the drain bolt. Clean the oil screen with contact/brake cleaner, and inspect the crush washer. If the crush washer is worn or damaged, replace it with a new one.

Step 4. Reinstall the screen, spring, crush washer and drain bolt once the old oil has fully drained from the engine, and torque the drain bolt to 18 foot-pounds.

Step 5. Refill the engine with 1 quart of Honda GN4 10W-40 motorcycle oil.

Step 6. Reinstall the dipstick, and run the motor on idle for about 20 seconds to circulate the new oil within the engine. Shut off the motor and let it stand for a minute.

Step 7. Remove the dipstick, then wipe it clean and set it back into the crankcase without threading it back in. Remove the dipstick again and check the oil level. Top off the oil level if necessary, then reinstall the dipstick and you’re done.
