Honda XR70R Oil Change
Regularly changing the oil is vital to a small dirt bike engine's health.
Without an oil filter to sieve out impurities, draining and changing the oil regularly is the best way to look after your Honda motorcycle engine. Watch the video above and follow the steps below to replace the engine oil in a Honda XR70R.
NOTE: The process for changing the oil in a Honda XR70R is the same or similar for most junior dirt bikes.
How to Change Honda XR70R Engine Oil
Step 1. Run the engine on idle for a minute to warm the oil, then shut it off and remove the dipstick so the crankcase can breathe properly. This helps the oil to drain efficiently.
Step 3. Reinstall the crush washer and the drain bolt once the oil has completely drained, and torque the bolt to 25 foot-pounds.
Step 4. Refill the engine with 0.8 quarts of 10W40 motorcycle oil.
NOTE: Make sure the motorcycle oil you use is compatible with a wet-clutch system.
Step 5. Reinstall the dipstick, then start the engine and run it on idle for 30 seconds to circulate the oil within the motor.
Step 6. Shut off the engine, and let it sit for a minute so the oil settles. This helps you get an accurate oil level reading.
Step 7. Remove the dipstick, then wipe it clean, place it back into the crankcase without screwing it in, and remove it again to get an oil level reading.
Step 8. Top off the oil if necessary, then reinstall the dipstick and you’re done.
