Yamaha TT-R90 Unit Spotlight

Between 2002 and 2007, Yamaha offered the TT-R90 as a steppingstone off-road motorcycle for kids ready to move on from smaller 50cc bikes.

Yamaha TT-R90 dirt bike

The TT-R90 was a single-cylinder, four-stroke Yamaha motorcycle that came in both kick- and electric-start versions. Equipped with a 3-speed transmission, the TT-R90 also came with a semi-automatic gearbox to simplify shifting by eliminating the need to engage the clutch. The single overhead cam engine clocked in at 89cc, and produced about 5.3HP at 7000 RPMs.

With YZ-style bodywork, the TT-R90 offered durability and approachability for young riders. It offered a low seat, serrated footpegs, and a paddle-style choke to make operating the motorcycle as easy as can be. Fuel capacity came in at 1.11 gallons.

The TT-R90 was hung on a steel-tube backbone frame with telescopic forks handling the trails. The front wheel could travel 4.3 inches, while the back swingarm could move 3.7 inches. Braking on both ends was handled by drum brakes. The bike weighed in at just a tick over 130 pounds, and the wheelbase was 60 inches.

While there aren’t as many of these youth dirt bikes on the trails anymore, Partzilla still has Yamaha TT-R90 parts to keep these little kid-friendly machines running. We even have OEM TT-R90 parts for a complete rebuild, ensuring that another generation of young riders can enjoy these peppy little offroad bikes.
