How to Size Polaris RZR 900XP Crankshaft Bearings

Sizing the crankshaft bearings on a Polaris RZR 900XP is easier thanks to Polaris, who has already done the work for you.

You won't need any tools to size the bearings on a Polaris 900XP. All you need to do is write down the various bearing identifications stamped on your RZR's engine components and compare these IDs to the tables included in the Polaris service manual. Follow the steps below to size the crankshaft bearings on your UTV.

Polaris RZR 900XP Bearing Sizing

Step 1. Make note of the crankshaft bearing identification letters. These are six letters stamped on one of the crankshaft counterweights.

Step 2. Jot down the connecting rod bearing identification number. This is one digit stamped on the end cap of the connecting rod.

Step 4. Using the Bearing Selection Illustrations in your Polaris RZR 900 service manual (pictured below), attribute the bearing identification numbers to their respective crankshaft journals, connecting rod journals, or crankcase journals.

  • The first, third, fifth and sixth letters in the crankshaft ID correspond to the main crankshaft bearings #1, #3, #5 and #6.
  • The first, second, third and fourth numbers in the crankcase ID correspond to the main crankshaft bearings #1, #3, #5 and #6.
  • The second and fourth letters in the crankshaft ID correspond to the connecting rod bearings #2 and #4.
  • The individual numbers in each con rod ID correspond to their respective crankshaft bearings #2 and #4.

EXAMPLE: Crankshaft ID GGYGGY, crankcase ID 222332, con rod ID 3 & 2

SOLUTION: Main crankshaft bearings = G2, Y2, G3, Y2

Connecting rod bearings =  G2, G3

Step 5. Using the Bearing Selection Charts in your Polaris RZR 900 service manual (pictured below), take the bearing readings you just made and compare them to the tables to determine the type of bearing for each of the four main camshaft bearings and two connecting rod bearings.

There are four different types of Polaris RZR 900XP bearings: blue, green, white and yellow. Once you know the exact bearing types you need for your motor, you can find them all on our website.

Connecting rod bearings = G2, G3

SOLUTION: Main crankshaft bearings = green, yellow, yellow, yellow

Connecting rod bearings = green, yellow

Having correctly sized the bearings in your Polaris RZR 900XP, you can now go ahead and install the new bearings into the con rods and crankcase.

Step 6. Install the connecting rod bearings into the lower ends of the con rods. Apply a smear of oil to each bearing once they're in place.
