Partzilla’s motorcycle expert John Talley hosts live Q&A sessions on our YouTube channel every Friday at 3pm Eastern. In this session, John was asked for his recommendation on what would be a good model pit bike to get for a viewer’s grandson as a birthday present.
Pit Bike Recommendation Q&A
I know my grandson reached out to you about the best pit bike, and I want to get him one for his birthday, so which do you think would be best?
John Talley: It really depends on how big of a person is going to be riding this thing. The three de-facto units that everybody chooses for the most part, of course the Honda CRF, the Kawasaki KLX and the Yamaha TT-R. As you may know we just finished doing a rebuild on the KLX. Now, out of those three units, especially if you’re a little bit taller of a rider, and you don’t want to get too in deep as far as how much money you need to spend to do a pit bike conversion, I would recommend the KLX. But make sure it’s the L edition, because she’s going to sit about an inch and a half higher at the seat. And that makes all the difference in the world. So that would be my advice for you.
