Which Oil for New Suzuki Motorcycle Break-In?

When it comes to breaking in a brand new Suzuki motorcycle, should you use conventional motor oil, or the semi-synthetic oil the bike came with from the factory?

Partzilla’s Suzuki motorcycle expert John Talley hosts live Q&A sessions on our YouTube channel every Friday at 3pm Eastern. In this session, John was asked for his suggestion on whether to use conventional oil or semi-synthetic oil for the first oil change during the break-in period of a new Suzuki GSX-8R motorcycle.

Suzuki Motorcycle Break-In Oil Q&A

Hey John, I bought a new Suzuki GSX-8R and it's due for its first service. Should I use conventional oil or the semi-synthetic oil that it came with for the rest of the break-in period?

John Talley: If you’re ready for the first oil change, she’s already broken in. So, go ahead and run the oil you want to run it in for the rest of its life. I did a short video about breaking in engines and how I go about doing it, and yeah, you’re there. So whatever oil you go to next, that’s the one you want to stay with, in my humble opinion.
