Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000 Front & Rear Diff Oil Change 

You may have changed the engine oil in your Kawasaki side-by-side regularly enough, but did you remember to change the differential oil? 

You don’t need to change the differential oil as often as the engine oil, but it’s just as crucial to the health of your UTV. Watch the video above and follow the steps below to learn how to change the differential oils in a Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000 side-by-side.

How to Change the Front Diff Oil in a Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000

Step 1. Position a drain pan under the front differential, then remove the 27mm fill cap and O-ring from the upper right side of the diff housing. Inspect the O-ring for damage or wear and replace it if necessary.

Step 2. Remove the 8mm Allen drain bolt and O-ring from the underside of the differential and let the old diff oil drain out. Inspect the O-ring for damage or wear and replace it if necessary.

Step 3. Reinstall the drain bolt and O-ring, and torque the bolt to 12.2 foot-pounds.

Step 4. Fill the front diff with 80W90 hypoid gear oil until the oil begins to overflow from the filler hole, which will be approximately 0.95 quarts.

Step 5. Reinstall the filler cap and O-ring, and torque the cap to 12.9 foot-pounds.

How to Change the Rear Diff Oil in a Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000

Step 6. Position a drain pan under the rear differential, then remove the 27mm fill cap and O-ring from the upper right side of the diff housing. Inspect the O-ring for damage or wear and replace it if necessary.

Step 7. Remove the 8mm Allen drain bolt and O-ring from the underside of the differential, and let the old diff oil drain out. Inspect the O-ring for damage or wear and replace it if necessary.

Step 8. Reinstall the drain bolt and O-ring, and torque the bolt to 15 foot-pounds.

Step 9. Fill the rear diff with 80W90 hypoid gear oil until the oil begins to overflow from the filler hole, which will be approximately 1.4 quarts.

Step 10. Reinstall the filler cap and O-ring, then torque the cap to 15 foot-pounds and you're done.
