Which Oil is Best For a New Honda TRX400 Clutch?
Should you run the HP4 semi-synthetic engine oil in the gold bottle for a brand new clutch on a Honda ATV, or just stick with the factory HP4 engine oil?
Partzilla’s Honda ATV expert John Talley livestreams Q&A sessions on our YouTube channel every Friday at 3pm Eastern. In this session, John was asked if it was better to use semi-synthetic oil for a brand new Honda TRX400 clutch instead of the factory oil.
Honda TRX400 Brand New Clutch Oil Q&A
Is it better to run a semi-synthetic in a 2005 Honda TRX400 with a brand new clutch, instead of the factory GN4 oil?
John Talley: That’s what I ran in mine. I had an 08 400EX and I always ran the semi-synthetic oil in that gold bottle that I’m so fond of. I’ve used it in most offroad machines or my motorsports machines, so that’s exactly what I would run in it, and I would recommend it. And it plays well with the fiber clutch plates that are in there, so yeah that would be the one to go with.
