Is it Possible to Overfill a Honda Rancher Rear Diff?
When changing the rear differential fluid in an ATV, you know the tank is full when the diff oil starts pouring out of the weep hole. But is there a such thing as overfilling it?
Partzilla’s Honda ATV expert John Talley hosts live Q&A sessions on our YouTube channel every Friday at 3pm Eastern. In this session, John was asked if it’s possible to overfill the rear differential with fluid on a 2015 Honda Rancher.
Honda Rancher Rear Diff Overfill Q&A
Is it possible to overfill the rear differential on a 2015 Honda Rancher? I had to pour almost an entire 8 oz. bottle before it came out the weep hole.
John Talley: Well, sure. I don’t remember the capacity off the top of my head, but most of the time it’s around 4-5 ounces. But with the Rancher it may be a little bit more. If you filled it up to the weep hole and you’re sitting on level ground with the machine, I think you’ll be fine, because Honda doesn’t do things by accident, that is for certain.
