How Do I Prevent Wobbling on My Honda Goldwing?

A wobbling problem with a Honda Goldwing could be the result of the front tire cupping due to the suspension getting worn out. But could the steering bearings be causing the motorcycle to wobble?

Partzilla’s Honda motorcycle expert John Talley hosts live Q&A sessions on our YouTube channel every Friday at 3pm Eastern. In this edition, John was asked how to stop a 2013 Honda Goldwing from wobbling.

Honda Motorcycle Wobbling Problem

Hello, I have a 2013 Honda Goldwing, and the steering bearings feel good. I use Centramatic balancers but I’m having a wobble at around 40 mph. What can I do to prevent this wobble?

John Talley: Well that doesn’t really sound like a bearing issue to me. That sounds like a front tire possibly cupping. And the tires usually cup because the suspension is getting a little worn. So that’s probably the way I would approach it first. When’s the last time you did a fluid change on your front forks? It may be time to go ahead and do that. Now, if you are having to replace the steering bearings, we do have a video for that. Granted, it is on an older Goldwing, a 2007, if memory serves. But I can tell you, you better be ready for a whole weekend. Watch the video of us doing it. It’s pretty involved, but don’t be afraid because it can be done. And we didn’t actually use the OEM bearings. I think we went with an All Balls kit which had tapered bearings for our 07 Goldwing, and it worked out pretty well.
