Can-Am Maverick X3 Side Mirror Installation Steps
Step 1. Visit the instructions page or website for the mirrors and this unit, find the link that says “templates” and print out the templates provided, because there are very specific areas you need to drill into the doors.
Step 2. Use the template for the outer side of the door to mark the holes you’re going to drill.
NOTE: Before you can mark the holes for the inner door holes template, which goes around the door locking mechanism, you need to remove several parts from the inside door.
Step 3. Remove the cover on the other side of the door, which is held in place by a T-30 Torx.
Step 4. Remove the door panel screw (circled below) and the clip that's behind it, because that’ll end up being where one of the holes will be drilled to mount the mirror.
Step 5. Line up the inner door template and mark each of the drilling points. The center point has a target symbol on the template.
PRO TIP: If you can’t get the inner template to fit correctly, try shaving off a quarter inch off the top and off the bottom of the template.
Step 6. Use a punch tool to punch a hole on the center point mark to keep the drill bit from wandering on metal.
Step 7. Use a 1/8th inch drill bit first as your pilot, then drill again with a 3/8th finishing drill bit to drill a 10mm hole at the center point.
Step 8. Drill out the holes on the outer side of the door plastic using a 1-inch hole saw.
Step 9. Feed the side mirror through the holes on the outer side of the plastic and tighten it down on the other side, then reinstall the inner door panel.
Use the same templates and repeat the same process for the opposite door’s side mirror and you’re done.
